Building Bit Shifter with Plastic Games

This week on the cast, Plastic Games’ Jim Horn and Paul Dana joined me to talk about developing Bit Shifter and a grab bag of design topics.

Bit Shifter

We began with talking about how Plastic Games was started by Paul and when Jim joined the team. Bit Shifter has been in development for a long time and went through many revisions. We talked about what it’s like to work on a game and the difficulty of figuring out the foundation of it.

While discussing Bit Shifter, we talked a lot about design in a general sense, and some of the things Paul and Jim picked up on over the years from designing Bit Shifter and sources like Extra Credits.

There were so many tangent topics that came up that I don’t know which ones to spotlight here, but we weren’t kidding: We probably could have had parts 2 through 12 of podcast conversations. One that I thought was really good to mention here was our thoughts on VR and why we have concerns about VR becoming mainstream and not just being a niche.

Paul’s internet was a little spotty at times, but nothing that messed with the conversation too much.
