A Discussion on Video Game Law

This week on the cast, I sat down with Colin Sullivan who is head of legal at Patreon and has studied video game law for a high level talk on some of the legal issues facing developers and the Game Industry.

Video Game Law

After introductions we began discussing a variety of legal topics relating to video games; starting out with crowdfunding and when things go bad. We spoke about working on licensed properties, fair use, the challenges of game preservation and others. One of our major topics was talking about some of the basic things you should do when starting a game studio and getting serious about game development.

(Note: I know that Patreon is in a bit of trouble right now with its creators and patrons, but this cast was recorded back in late October before the news hit.)
