Exploring New Experiences with Robin Arnott

Role-playing survival game is willing to take risks

For this week’s Perceptive Podcast, I sat down with Robin Arnott who is interested in creating new experiences and is the man behind the experimental game Deep Sea and the upcoming title Soundself.

Robin Arnott

We started off talking about Robin’s background and why he is interested in creating these unique experiences. Robin is definitely passionate about creating new experiences and you can hear it in how he talks about what he wants people to experience out of Soundself.

That led into a discussion on how much the definition of a video game has changed and talking about the artistic side of creating new games and some developers that we like on that front. Since Soundself was a kickstarted title, I asked Robin about his thoughts on crowd-funding as well.

We also talked about VR, the Rift and what makes them very intriguing to Robin. Our discussion about the future of VR and some of the technologies that he has seen or heard actually made me interested for the first time in what VR could do for the future. The big point that Robin talked about is that VR is not just about video games, but about the application of it in other mediums and uses.

One last thing, both Robin and I were having allergy issues on the day of recording, which explains a lot of the heavy breathing.
