Hob is the latest game from Runic Games and represents a big departure from the studio. The makers of ARPGs like Torchlight has decided to go in the direction of open world action adventure design. While the game certainly looks beautiful, it doesn’t make the most out of its world.
For this week’s Dissecting Design, I’m taking a look at Ghost Master: A game where you control a squad of ghosts to wreck havoc in a small town. While the game wasn’t perfect, its blend of anti-hero storytelling and scare-based gameplay made it stand out.
This week on the cast, I had a chance to sit down with veteran developers Paul Reiche and Fred Ford — Makers of Star Control 2, one of my favorite games of all time. With the announcement of their sequel, we talked about the design of Star Control 2, and their plans for Ghosts of the Precursors.
For today’s post, I decided to do something a little different. I wanted to share my thoughts on trying to learn how to speed run Cuphead, and decided to make it a Medium post, as it doesn’t fit the categories here on Game-Wisdom. This shouldn’t happen too often, but let me know what you think.
