This week, David D’Angelo of Yacht Club Games returned to the cast to catch up and talk about designing Shovel Knight and what’s next for our hero.
We started off with catching up and discussing what it’s like to port the game onto the Nintendo Switch. From there, we talked about what’s coming in the future to the PC with the Specter Knight expansion for Shovel Knight. David talked about the challenge of creating brand new content for the game and experimenting with new systems and mechanics.
For our main topic, we talked about the recent trend of making modern retro titles. David talked about how they looked at retro games for inspiration, but still wanted to make something original for new and old fans.
