The Final Days of Summer 2015 and Talking Game Difficulty

Role-playing survival game is willing to take risks

This week on the Perceptive Podcast, I decided to have an end of summer cast as the Fall welcomes new games and hopefully a break from this heat. Joining me this week was returning guest from Quarter to Three Jason McMaster and he brought a friend; from Unwinnable, Charles (or Chuck) Moran.

Game Wisdom

We started with Chuck talking about Unwinnable and how it got started before talking about games we’ve been playing lately. I began with Duskers which you should have seen one of the many videos on the site about it by now. That led into a talk about how playing habits and how much we like to jump between different games and a tangent on Shin Megami Tensei.

Then Chuck talked about Hearthstone and getting into both a Free to Play game and a CCG, which lead into one of the craziest tangents we’ve had on the casts yet, fair warning it wasn’t exactly safe for work. For our last game from Jason, we talked about Heroes of the Storm and a discussion on strategy games.

Our big topic this week was talking game difficulty and about whether or not difficulty equals a better game. Of course this mean that we had to talk about the Souls series and what our threshold is for hard games. Finally we wrapped up with a quick talk about the games we’re looking forward to; which apparently my pick has now been delayed until 2016.
