Tribute Games retro-inspired hit Mercenary Kings mixed old school design with modern touches to create something original. For their next game Flinthook, we have similar aspirations; taking a page out of retro platformers with a mix of rogue-like design. While the inventiveness doesn’t go far enough, Flinthook could be the start of something amazing.
In light of the reported issues of Mighty No 9’s problems at launch, it was a great pleasure to have a chance to check out 20XX: a rogue-like mixed with the classic Mega Man-styled design. The game has a great chocolate mixed with peanut butter-like design, and while it’s not finished yet, this is a great game to look forward to.
Now that Dark Souls 3 has been out for awhile, it’s time to focus on the gameplay and actual mechanics of Dark Souls 3 beyond just reviewing the game. With each game, From Software makes a lot of subtle changes to the underlining combat systems and overall mechanics; some good, some bad and some up for debate.

Hoarding items both has to do with game mechanics and the player’s own mindset, and today’s post is going to look at that and ways to downplay the need to hoard.
