Common Mistakes Call of Duty Mobile Players Should Avoid Making

Call of Duty Mobile (CODM) still remains one of the best mobile shooting games on the market. Being a player of this game for many years, I’ve also tried playing PUBG Mobile and Rules of Survival (ROS), but for me, nothing beats CODM as of now. Learning the ins and outs of this game the hard way, I realized that there are a few mistakes newbies and even veteran players commit, and unfortunately, they’re mostly dealbreakers — the kind of mistakes that turn an easy win into an epic comeback of the opposing team.

Here, I will be sharing with you the top mistakes CODM players should avoid making, especially if you’re new to the game. There are a few must-haves when playing this game, such as fast internet plans, a capable device, and a whole lot of patience. Let’s start!

  • Not Familiarizing the Game Before Playing Ranked Mode

I often see new players rush their way into ranked matches without actually understanding how the game works. This often happens in both battle royale (BR) and multiplayer (MP) matches. Honestly, BR is more forgivable than multiplayer because there’s a solo mode. However, in MP matches, there are various modes to play and everyone needs to contribute to win. And you can only contribute if you know how the game works.

Regardless of whether you’re a new or an old player, using the training mode to practice different guns, your aim, movement, and more can be beneficial for your growth as a player. Just spending a few minutes training can make a big difference in your skill.

  1. Playing with a Slow Internet Connection

Playing with a slow internet connection is one of the most frustrating and common mistakes players make. CODM is fast-paced, and every second counts. A slow or unstable connection can cause lag, where your character’s movements are delayed or out of sync with what’s happening on the server. This gives the opposing team a huge advantage, as they can shoot you before you even realize what’s happening.

To avoid this, make sure you’re playing on a reliable network. If you’re playing using mobile data, make sure you have a reliable cell phone service. However, it’s mostly recommended to play the game using WiFi as it can provide a more stable connection.

  • Not Communicating with Teammates

Using voice chat is the best way to communicate with teammates because you talk to them in real-time. However, not everyone is comfortable using this, especially if you’re teamed up with strangers. What you can do though is to use the communication features in the game, which allows you to point out which directions to take and alert your teammates about enemy locations or specific objectives.

These quick chat options, like “Enemy in sight” or “Capture the objective,” are highly useful for keeping everyone on the same page without needing to use voice chat. Of course, smooth communication is much easier when you have high-speed wireless internet like Boost Infinite, as we’ve mentioned earlier.

  • Not Changing Loadout Based on Maps and Game Modes

Another mistake players often make is sticking to the same loadout regardless of the game mode they’re playing. In CODM, different modes—like Team Deathmatch, Domination, or Search and Destroy—require different strategies, which means your loadout should adapt accordingly.

For example, in Search and Destroy, where you only have one life per round, a stealthy approach with silencers and smoke grenades might be more useful than running in guns blazing with an assault rifle. Meanwhile, for modes like Domination, where constant action and capturing points are crucial, an aggressive loadout with fast-firing SMGs or LMGs might be more effective.

The Bottom Line

CODM is a fun game to play, especially if you excel in it. You can have fun playing with your friends and even make new online friends. Over the years I’ve played this game, I have met a lot of new friends who became real-life friends because of CODM. Just make sure to be respectful, always do your best, and never bully other players so we can keep a healthy gaming environment. Have fun!
