Six Amazing Games You Can Play on a Macbook

I know exactly how you feel. You love playing video games and you love being able to play them with friends, but, you can’t play them all. Why exactly?

Because you have a MacBook.

Because Macs and PC’s run differently, you can’t play some games on MacBooks that you can on PC. Lucky for you, here is a list of games you can play on a MacBook.

  1. Minecraft

Ok let’s be honest here, you’ve probably heard of Minecraft. I mean, who hasn’t?

In case you’ve been living under a rock or if you just want a refresher, Minecraft is an open world sandbox game where you can do pretty much anything you want to.

In single-player mode, you can choose between Survival mode where you have to survive and a creative mode where you can build whatever you like for however long you want. If you like survival, but want more of a challenge, you can also play hardcore mode.

Minecraft also has Multiplayer capabilities in the form of online public servers and private servers that are called realms. The regular servers are free, but the private ones that you can host for you and your friends cost money.

This is a great game that will keep you glued to your computer for days on end. Be sure to check it out.

  1. Civilization

The Civilization series has been around since 1991 and it is still going strong. It’s latest installments, Civ 5 and Civ 6, are both incredible games.

The Civilization games are strategy turn-based games in which you create a civilization from the beginning of humanity up to the discovery of space exploration.

Playing the game on your own is fun and challenging enough, but you can also play the game with your friends! This will allow you to face real people for more of a challenge and it will be an overall more positive experience.

  1. Life Is Strange

Life is Strange is a unique game that came out in 2015. It follows the main character, Max, as she unravels a town conspiracy with her childhood friend Chloe and her newfound time travel powers.

Yes, the game sounds cool and awesome, but it also is cool and awesome. And the graphics are really good both on PC and Mac which is a big plus.

If your looking for games to play with friends, this one is not the game you’re looking for, but I still strongly suggest that you gift yourself and check it out.

  1. Stardew Valley

Stardew Valley is a farming simulator game that was greatly inspired by the Harvest Moon game series. So if you loved Harvest Moon then you’ll love Stardew Valley even more.

Stardew Valley is cute and collected, letting you grow crops, raise livestock, and even get married and have kids. You can play the game by yourself or with your friends as it can support up to three different people playing together. If you’re looking for something more calm and low-key, check out Stardew Valley.

  1. Subnautica

Subnautica is a little like Minecraft when you think about it. Subnautica is also an open-world survival game, but the sandbox aspect isn’t all there. However, you do still scout for resources and what not so you don’t die.

The kicker with this game and what sets it apart is that you’ve just crash-landed in the ocean on an alien planet. So if you’re terrified of the ocean, maybe step away from this one.

  1. Monster Prom

If you’re not a fan of dating simulators, you can go ahead and move on to the next section. But if you enjoy them or you’re curious, welcome.

Monster Prom is a fun, choose your own adventure type game in which you are a student at a monster high school looking for a date to the prom. You’ll have a set amount of time to woo the monster of your choice.

While it doesn’t have longevity going for it, Monster Prom is enjoyable and will keep you occupied for a few hours. You can even play it with a friend! However, you’ll need to be near that friend.

If you’re looking for some LGBTQ+ representation in your game library, Dream Daddy is another good dating simulator that you should check out.

How Can I Play These Games?

The answer is one simple word: Steam.

Steam is a digital distribution service that distributes, you guessed it, video games. All of these games, except for Minecraft which we’ll get to in a second, can be bought and played through Steam.

Steam is not only home to just these four games, but also to 30,000 different games. All you need is your MacBook and Steam.

So… How Do I Get Steam?

It’s actually really simple. All you need to do is go to the application’s website and download Steam for Mac.

If you aren’t too sure how to do that, this article has a steam download guide. It also lets you know how to download games on your MacBook from Steam!
