For this episode of the Developer Roundtable Podcast, we had a shorten one with guests Nicholas McDonnell from Samurai Punk and David D’Angelo from Yacht Club Games.
Our first topic at 3:09 was talking about the importance of PR and what it means for trying to make it in the Game Industry. I asked them about what specific strategies they use and some of the things to avoid when pushing your game or your company. We also had a side topic on game devaulation which snuck in during this section.
At 24:00 we moved on to the next topic: Sustaining yourself as an Indie company. Releasing one successful game is great, but keeping your studio going is something that a lot of people don’t think about.
At 44:43, our final topic was talking more about Kickstarter and our panel’s thoughts on big companies going to Kickstarter to use it to gauge interest in their products. During the editing, my voice sounded a little more robotic than normal which I think had to do with removing extra background noise unfortunately.
