Dissecting Design — Valkyria Chronicles


For this week’s Dissecting Design, I’m returning to the cult favorite Vakyria Chronicles. Combining tactical strategy and JRPG design, the game was an underground hit; getting two sequels on the PSP. Unfortunately, the mechanics of the game clashed together to create some difficulty spikes and polarizing elements.

Due to the size of the examination, the Dissecting Design this week is split into two parts. The first one dealing with the good of the game, and the second one was about the issues I had with the design.
