Shining a Light on The Darkest Dungeon (Part 1)

This week, Ken and I were joined by Chris Bourassa from Red Hook Games to discuss their first game project and successful kickstarter: The Darkest Dungeon.

The Darkest Dungeon

For the cast we started off talking about the origin of Red Hook Games and how the studio was basically formed so that they could create The Darkest Dungeon. From there we talked about the Kickstarter itself which was one of the best projects I saw on Kickstarter which was one of the reasons why I pledged to it. We discussed how Red Hook set the whole thing up — From rewards and stretch goals to how they decided the best way to show it. I even tried to use all my charm to get out of Chris what was the mysterious final stretch goal.

Ken asked Chris some art related questions and before we knew it, it was almost one in the morning and Chris had to take off. We did get a few questions in regarding game design but we are in the process of setting up a part two focusing exclusively on the game design very soon.

This was great. Can’t wait for this game. Looking forward to part 2!

  • It is going to be a bit unfortunately as they are busy with the game. But there is no way I’m passing up a chance to get into a tactical RPG discussion.

  • AndrewRegis

Very understandable, but hopefully they’ll have a bit of time before too long. Every time I see mention of this game again on the net, I get really mad that I’ll have to wait for it! Looks too fun!
